Durood Ibrahim | Translation English Urdu & Transliteration

Durood means mercy or asking for mercy. Durood is combination of beautiful words that contains praises of prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Darood is actually a supplication of a very high level, Which is done in your favor to express your faith commitment and loyalty to the Messenger of Allah And this supplication is due to love for Muhammad and is in the rights of Muhammad.

Durood Sharif is the honor of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) from Allah. We recite Durood to send blessings to our Holy Prophet (PBUH). There many different Durood having different virtues and each is recited in different occasions.. Durood Ibrahim (Durood Ibrahimi or Durood e Ibrahimi ) is the most common one because it is recited in five prayers of the day. In counties like india and pakistan it is known as Durood Sharif commonly.

Durood Ibrahim is a supplication which means: O Allah send peace upon Muhammad ﷺ and his family as you sent blessings upon the family of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and bless the family of Muhammad ﷺ as you sent blessings upon Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and his family, Verily, Allah is the most praiseworthy.

Durood Ibrahim are the words recited by Allah and His angels. In the Qur'an, the believers are specially advised to send Durood and Salam to the beloved Prophet ﷺ. "Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet, O you who believe! You also send blessings upon him, as have the right to send." 

Durood is one of the blessed blessings of Allah, which has immense hidden blessings. It is such an eternal wealth that whoever recite it will get religious and worldly help. Durood is the praise of the Beloved of God, the treasure of God's mercy, the expiation of sins, the ladder of exaltation, the mirror of God's nearness, the vessel of goodness. It is the adornment of the assembly, the cure for the narrow hand, the action that leads to heaven, the purity of the heart, the antidote for the evils, the joy of the soul, the cure for spiritual problems, the solution to poverty and poverty, the means of salvation from hell and the key to intercession.

Sending greetings and salutations to the beloved Prophet ﷺ is an essential part of the daily life of all Muslims and believers because we repeat the words of Durood Ibrahim at least five times in prayer. The believers have been urged by the Prophet to send many greetings and salutations on Friday, on this day our greetings and salutations are conveyed to the Prophet ﷺ. There is an immense virtue of reciting Durood that by reciting it once, ten virtues are increased, ten sins are erased and it leads to the elevation of ten levels. Benefits of reciting durood | Miracles of durood sharif

There is no doubt that the noble life of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) undoubtedly has countless aspects and in terms of the guidance and guidance of mankind, each aspect has an endless sea within it. From the point of view of invitation and preaching, the most prominent and distinctive aspect of the Prophet's life is his coming as a mercy to his Ummah. Even before the prophethood, he was certainly a mercy to the people, being known as Sadiq and Amin in Makkah is a clear proof of this.

 

The patience, forbearance, compassion and mercy that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) adopted to convey the religion to his ummah after being exalted to the position of Prophethood is such a glorious aspect of the Prophet's (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) biography that no historian can cover its heights and heights. And it is not enough for the biographer. The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) faced many hardships and suffered hardships to bring the religion to his Ummah.

 

It is a great blessing, honor and good fortune for a Muslim to send Durood Sharif on the Holy Prophet, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The beloved Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) has given good news to those who recite Durood. The News of honor, forgiveness, abundance of sustenance, blessing in the home, elevation of ranks, relief of need and many other virtues and blessings.

 

The Prophet Muhammad fulfilled his duty and the responsibility of preaching the religion to the Ummah in a very good and perfect manner. Now, it is the duty and obligation of the Ummah Muhammadiyah to follow the Holy Prophet and make the teachings of the Holy Prophet their soul. Apart from this, Allah emphasized on reciting durood.

 

The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, Meaning: "The best day of your days is Friday. On that day, recite Durood frequently, because your blessings are conveyed to me." (Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah) 

 

The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, Meaning: "Recite darood on Friday and Friday night frequently. Whoever does this, I will intercede for him on the Day of Resurrection."

 

It was narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Masood that the Messenger of Allah (may God bless him and grant him peace) said, meaning: "On the Day of Resurrection, those closest to me will be those who send darood on me the most." (Tirmidhi)

 

Sayyidna Abu Hurairah says that the Messenger of Allah (may God bless him and grant him peace) said, Meaning: "Do not make my grave a place of worship, send durood upon me, without doubt! Your durood reach me wherever you may be.” (Abu Dawud)

 

It was narrated from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, Meaning: "A miser in the true sense is a person to whom my name was mentioned, but that person did not send durood on me." (Tirmidhi)

 

Hazrat AbuBakr Siddiq (RA) said, meaning: “Reciting blessings on the Prophet (PBUH) erases sins like water extinguishes fire, And sending salutations on the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is better than freeing a slave for the sake of Allah, And loving the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is better than wielding a sword in the path of Allah and sacrificing one's life".

 

Umm al-Mu'minin Hazrat Ayesha Siddiqa (RA) says: "The adornment of gatherings is reciting darood upon the Holy Prophet ﷺ, so decorate the gatherings with blessings."

 

Sayyidna Abdullah bin Masoud (RA) said to Hazrat Zaid bin Wahab that when Friday comes, do not forget reciting Durood upon the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) a thousand times.

 

Hazrat Wahb ibn Munabbih (RA) said: Reciting blessings on the Prophet (PBUH) is worshiping Allah.

 

Imam Qastalani has narrated in Muahib al-Ludniyyah that on the Day of Resurrection, the good deeds of a believer will less and the burden of sins will become heavy, then that believer will stand worried. Suddenly, the Messenger of Allah (may God bless him and grant him peace) will come to the scale and will secretly take out a paper from his side and put it in its fold. As soon as he keeps it, good deeds will become heavy. This person will not know who it was that crossed his raft. The person will ask who are you? You are so generous, and beautiful, you saved me from becoming the fuel of hell, and what was that paper that you kept in my actions? The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) will say: I am Prophet  Muhammad(ﷺ) and this is darood that you used to send on me.

 

Many permanent authentic books have been written on the virtues, blessings and benefits of Durood Sharif, Maulana Yusuf Ludhianvi Sahib book in Urdu "darood sharif ka aseen majmua" and Arabic book"Dulail al-Khairat" by Sheikh Muhammad Bin Sulaiman Jazuli.

 

Allama Muhammad bin Abi Bakr ibn Al-Qayyim al-Jawziyya (may God bless him and grant him peace) has mentioned some benefits of reciting Durood Sharif. They are mentioned below:

  1. By reciting Durood Sharif, the order of Allah is fulfilled.
  2. There is fellowship of Allah in sending blessings on the Holy Prophet.
  3. This person also gets involved in the process of sending the blessings of the angels.
  4. Ten blessings of Allah are revealed to the one who recites Durood Sharif once.
  5. Ten degrees of reciter is raised.
  6. Ten goodness are written.
  7. Ten sins are forgiven.
  8.  Reciting Durood Ibrahim before dua increases the probability of acceptance.
  9. If Durood Sharif is recited along with the Wasilah dua or separately after the Adhan, then the intercession of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) will be blessed on the Day of Judgment.
  10. It is a means of forgiveness of sins
  11.  It is a mean by which Allah Almighty becomes a sponsor for the needs of reciter.
  12. It is the source of proximity to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on the Day of Judgment.
  13. It becomes a mean of charity for the needy man.
  14. It is the cause of fulfillment of needs.
  15. Allah's mercy and angels pray for mercy on the reciter.
  16. Darood is a mean of purification of the person.
  17.  Before death is the source of tidings of heaven.
  18. It is a means of avoiding the horrors of the Day of Resurrection.
  19. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) responds to the reciter or durood.
  20. Allah's mercy is focused on the one who recites Durood Sharif.
  21. Reciting Durood Sharif is a means of increasing love for the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).
  22. It is the cause of reminding of something forgotten.
  23. Reciting Durood Sharif is means of deliverance from regret in the Day of Resurrection.
  24. There is relief from neediness and poverty for those who recite Durood.
  25. When the name of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) comes, the one who recites Durood is saved from being called a miser.
  26. If you do not say Sallallahou Alayhe Wasallam when name of Muhammad comes. The darood is a way to save you from this badness.
  27. Durood Ibrahim becomes a source of love of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).
  28.  It is the source of the guidance for reciter.
  29. The one who recites Durood finds the way to heaven and the one who does not recite it gets lost.
  30. A gathering in which Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) are not discussed or praised is unclean. Reciting Durood Sharif gets rid of this uncleanness.
  31. The speech which begins with the praise of Allah and Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) reaches its end.
  32. Crossing the bridge of Sirat will be easy for the reciter of durood.
  33. Allah continues to send mercy among the people of heaven and earth on the one who recites Durood Ibrahim.
  34. The person who recites Durood Sharif is blessed in his personality, his actions, his age and his work.
  35. The reciter of Durood is protected from hardness of heart.
  36. The name of reciter is mentioned in front of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).
  37. A person who recites Darood, even if it is only a little, tries to pay the right of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The reciter of durood is grateful for the favors that Allah has bestowed upon us because of the Prophet Muhammad.
  38. By this, Allah is remembered and thanked, and we realizes the favor that Allah has bestowed upon us by sending Prophet Muhammad.

Occasions where Durood Ibrahim should be recited

Durood Sharif should be recited frequently without being restricted to any time or occasion, but there are certain occasions where its recitation is specially emphasized. Some of them are famous. For example, in the final tashahhud of every prayer, after the second takbeer of the funeral prayer, and in the Friday sermon, etc. Apart from these, some more Occasions are:

  1. Before Dua: Hazrat Fazala bin Ubaid (RA) narrates that the Prophet (PBUH) heard a man supplicating in prayer, but he did not send darood on Muhammad (PBUH). So prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: He has rushed. Then Prophet Muhammad called him and said: When any one of you performed namaz, should first praise Allah, then send blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, and after that ask Allah for whatever you wishes.” [Abu Dawud: 1481, Tirmidhi: 3477. Sahih al-Albani]
  2. On Friday: Reciting darood on friday is mentioned in hadith. [Abu Dawud: 1047 Sahih al-Albani]
  3. Reciting Darod in Morning and evening: On the authority of Hazrat Abu Zar the Messenger of Allah (may God bless him and grant him peace) said: "A person who sends durod on me ten times in the morning and ten times in the evening, will be blessed with my intercession on the Day of Resurrection." [Sahih al-Jami: 6357]
